Amanda Wenger is a Houston-based writer and performer with a passion for myths and fairy tales. A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Nursing, she believes in the potential for art to impact marginalized bodies and communities in life-giving ways. Her work is in turns fearless, funny, and moving. She is a contributing writer and editorial board member of The Voice of Nursing, a publication sponsored by Texas Children's Hospital. She can often be found performing at The Moth Live: StorySLAM in Houston, or as a guest storyteller on KPFT local radio program “So What’s Your Story?” Her first standup comedy show, Underhugger, debuted at the Houston Fringe Festival in November 2019. Amanda will attend residencies at the Wellstone Center in the Redwoods, The Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow, and the Holes In The Wall Collective in 2020.
