Julie Carrick Dalton

Julie Carrick Dalton's debut novel Waiting for the Night Song is forthcoming from Tor/Forge Macmillan in January 2021. Her second novel, The Last Beekeeper, comes out in 2022. Owner of a 100-acre farm in rural New Hampshire, Julie is passionate about the representation of climate science, agriculture, and ecology in literature. Prepublication, her debut novel has won the William Faulkner Literary Competition and the Writers League of Texas prize for literary and contemporary fiction.

A proud graduate of GrubSteet's Novel Incubator, Julie contributes to Electric Literature, The Writer Unboxed, and DeadDarlings. She is also a story slam champion. Her news and feature articles have appeared in publications including The Boston Globe, Inc. Magazine, BusinessWeek, The Hollywood Reporter, and Baby Talk Magazine. Julie has developed a particular talent for tossing her marked-up novel manuscripts into a blender with water and botanicals to create artisan stationery. Ask her about it!

When she isn't writing or talking endlessly about climate fiction, Julie enjoys skiing, hiking, kayaking, cooking vegetarian food, chasing her four kids, and digging in the dirt. She is represented by Stacy Testa at Writers House. You can follow her on twitter @juliecardalt or at juliecarrickdalton.com.
